Huichol art involves pressing colorful beads into a layer of beeswax that has been applied to a carved surface, creating detailed patterns and images.

Most Huichol patterns have religious significance and many are influenced by visions that occur during peyote rituals. However, plant and animal motifs remain the most common and most retain their original meaning.
